Dear Parents:

I hope you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving break.  The time between Thanksgiving and the holiday break is always busy for families and schools.  We often see stress levels rising during this time of the year.  To the degree possible, it is important to maintain your normal schedule.  Good food and a regular bedtime will help your child manage the excitement that comes with the season.  We are always here to assist if you have questions or concerns.

LMS basketball is underway for both boys and girls in grades seven and eight.  LMS Drama Club began its season on Monday, November 28, and will be in rehearsals for the next few months for their production of High School, The Musical—Junior.

Our first trimester ended on Wednesday, November 30.  Report cards will be mailed on Tuesday, December 6.  The scholastic probation period will be Wednesday, December 7 through Tuesday, December 20.  Academic awards will be distributed on Monday, December 12.

Our grade level teams (Pine, Spruce, Oak, Maple, and Birch) are deciding on which project they will each complete for their chosen non-profit organization as part of the Inspiring Kids Program.  The non-profit organizations are different for each team, as well as the service that will be provided.  This is in addition to the annual toy and clothing drive being sponsored by our LMS Student Council.  New unwrapped toys and/or clothing are being collected through Friday, December 9.

The LMS Band and Chorus have been practicing for their upcoming concert which will be held in our gym on December 13, at 7:00pm.

Just a couple of reminders to all parents. . .

If you wish to change your child’s dismissal plans or have your child dismissed early, unless it is an emergency, please notify our office by 8:00am.  The secretaries work hard to get messages to the students in a timely manner, but, the end of the day is always hectic in the school’s office and classrooms.  (Page 7 of the LMS student handbook)

And if your child is going to be absent from school for a length of time, please notify the office as well your child’s teachers, a week in advance of the absence so that they have time to gather and prepare work for your child to complete during his/her absence.  (Page 21 of the LMS student handbook)

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact me.
