THE MIDDLE SCOOP

May 16, 2017

Dear Parents:

It’s hard to believe but the end of the school year is only a few weeks away.  The students’ last day will be Wednesday, June 14, with a 12:30pm dismissal.  Between now and then we have field trips, concerts, and other special events.  A list of some of these events appears later in this edition of the Middle Scoop.  For a complete list, please refer to the calendar on our school web page at lms.sau88.net.  We also post our morning announcements every day for families to access.

First and foremost, thank you to all for your donations to a delicious celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day.  Parents and members of the Lebanon Middle School Student Council did a marvelous job ensuring that we were all well fed.  We feel fortunate to be supported by our LMS family.  Thank you.

On Friday, May 12, students in 7th and 8th grade were given a consent form to participate in the 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey for Middle School.  Please ask your child for this information.  If you do not wish to have your child participate, please indicate on the form provided, sign, and return.  If your child may participate, there is nothing you need to do.  If you have questions, please contact School Counselor, Elena VanZandt (evanzandt@sau88.net).

Our LMS baseball and softball teams had a rough start to their season due to all of the rain and wet fields.  We are hoping the weather will change soon.  All students on these teams are working hard to improve their skills, and they are looking forward to playing some more games (on dry fields!)

Several students on the Lebanon Middle School Math Team attended the All Star Math Meet held at KUA on Friday, May 12.  They exhibited their prowess in math while competing against other math-letes from around the region.  Congratulations to Alex Felix, the high scorer for the meet with 48 points out of 50.  Way to go, Alex!  Bravo Math Team and Coach Tricia Hill!

The Lebanon Middle School Solar Sprint Teams are busy constructing their solar powered vehicles, testing them, and making adjustments as they prepare for the annual competition to be held June 1 at the CCBA.  Under the guidance of Coach Groveman, the students have come up with some clever designs.  We wish them the best of luck when competing against other area schools.

Thursday, May 25 is our Annual LMS Spring Band and Chorus Concert to be held in the Preston Gym at Lebanon Middle School.  This promises to be an entertaining evening, showcasing a wide variety of musical styles and genres.

2017-18 team/advisory placement letters will be mailed home on Thursday, May 25.  If you do not receive yours in a timely manner, please contact our office at (603)448-3056.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact us.
