Medications

OTC medications can be given to students when needed after the nurse assesses the student, provided that a parent/guardian has given written permission in or on the Nurses Emergency Form. Students may not carry medications on them during the day, with the exception of emergency inhalers and Epipens. Before these emergency medications can be carried by the student, there must be written permission from both parent and prescribing MD, and an Asthma Action Plan or Allergy Plan on file.

Any prescription medication to be given during the school day must be provided to the nurse in the labeled bottle with students name, dose and time of administration. Written permission from both parent and MD is required. No medication will be given if it is a baggie.
